For those AACE Scientific & Clinical Congress attendees who want even more than the regular schedule offers, an array of nine pre-meeting workshops is planned for Wednesday, May 16. These half-day sessions require additional registration fees.
“The Wednesday Pre-Congress sessions are the more clinically hands-on sessions that we offer. So if you really want to get interactive, and really dig down deep into some cases that’s what the Wednesday sessions are for,” said Program Committee Chair Vin Tangpricha, MD, PhD, FACE.
Morning workshops will address the latest clinical approaches to thyroid cancer, advanced bone disease, obesity and managing diabetes as a cardiovascular disease.
The popular diabetes technology workshop, chaired by George Grunberger, MD, FACP, FACE, is back and will offer hands-on technology demonstrations and practical information about how to set up a diabetes technology practice in the real world.
“This workshop is a way for clinicians to put their hands on new diabetes technology,” said Dr. Tangpricha. “It’ll start off with didactics, and during the second part there will be all the toys for everyone to play with. It’s really going to be an interactive way for people to feel comfortable with the technology, including a few new devices.”
In addition to the hands-on diabetes technology session, the afternoon will feature sessions on clinical thyroidology, reproductive endocrinology, new perspectives on nutrition and herbal supplements, and AACE’s Lifelong Learning Board Review Course.
“A lot of these sessions are really focused toward bringing skills that can be utilized right away,” said Dr. Tangpricha. “These sessions are very in-depth about certain specific disease areas.”
